SoilSteam International enters the UK market – first sale to Gavin Griffiths Ltd in Wales

SoilSteam International has completed its first sale in the United Kingdom: Gavin Griffiths Ltd in Wales will be the very first company in the UK to adopt SoilSteam’s groundbreaking technology.

This marks a significant milestone for both SoilSteam and the development of sustainable soil management practices in the UK.

From landfill to revitalized soil

The challenge of invasive non-native species is significant – in Norway, the UK, and internationally. Traditionally, contaminated soil has been transported to a landfill – a resource-intensive and unsustainable approach that also removes valuable soil resources from circulation.

With SoilSteam’s technology, soil can instead be treated and revitalized on site. The machines use steam to neutralize seeds, roots, and unwanted organisms, allowing the soil to be safely reused. This delivers both economic and environmental benefits while significantly reducing the need for transport and disposal.

A forward-thinking partner in the UK

For SoilSteam, the agreement with Gavin Griffiths Ltd represents a major step into a new market. The company is a progressive and future-oriented player in waste management, recycling, and environmental services, and shares SoilSteam’s ambition to develop solutions that combine sustainability, innovation, and profitability.

“We are very pleased to have secured an agreement with a partner that dares to take the lead in the UK market. Gavin Griffiths has demonstrated both the will and the ability to think differently, and we are proud to have them on board,” says Ken Roar Riis, CEO of SoilSteam.

From Gavin Griffiths Ltd, the enthusiasm is equally clear:

“We are proud to be the first company in the UK to offer this technology. It gives us a unique position in the market and opens new opportunities for sustainable services that meet both regulatory requirements and customer needs,” says Chris Taylor-King, Managing Director of Gavin Griffiths Ltd.

A green shift in soil management

This agreement is more than a commercial breakthrough – it points towards a new standard for soil management in the UK. With SoilSteam now in place at Gavin Griffiths Ltd, it is possible to tackle invasive species sustainably, while also contributing to a circular economy that safeguards soil resources for the future.
