SoilSteam and Motridal S.p.A. enter into strategic cooperation agreement
A new agreement between SoilSteam and Italian machinery manufacturer Motridal S.p.A. strengthens an established partnership and provides long-term stability and predictability in production, quality and pricing.

SoilSteam has worked with Motridal for several years on the development and production of its SoilSaver machines. In October 2026, the partnership was further strengthened through a strategic cooperation agreement that lays the foundation for continued product development and manufacturing.
Motridal has extensive expertise in screw conveyor and mixing technology, as well as machinery manufacturing and assembly. The agreement secures a long-term manufacturing partner for SoilSteam, with the expertise and capacity needed as the company delivers more machines to international markets.
Protecting expertise and ensuring predictability
The agreement ensures that the knowledge and solutions SoilSteam develops together with Motridal’s engineers remain an important part of SoilSteam’s intellectual property. It also aims to secure competitive commercial terms and predictability in production, quality and pricing.

“This is an important agreement for SoilSteam. Our machines are built on more than ten years of research and development. Our unique process is designed to ensure that all material receives the correct heat treatment, in terms of both time and temperature. Protecting our expertise and maintaining a close, long-term relationship with our manufacturing partner are therefore essential,” says Ken Roar Riis, CEO of SoilSteam.
“This agreement strengthens the foundation for further growth. It gives us greater predictability in production and confidence that we can deliver machines of the required quality at competitive prices,” Riis adds.
A partnership with international ambitions
Giampietro Calvi, Sales Director at Motridal, looks forward to further developing the partnership.
“We have worked with SoilSteam for five years and followed its progress from early machines to deliveries across several parts of the world. We see considerable potential in the technology and want to be part of its continued development. The new agreement gives us a strong foundation for taking the partnership forward,” says Calvi.
In recent years, SoilSteam has delivered SoilSaver20 machines to customers in Northern Europe and North America. The company plans to deliver its first SoilSaver5 machines in spring 2027. This smaller machine has been developed for the treatment and reuse of growing media such as peat and coir in greenhouse production. Most of the manufacturing is planned to take place at Motridal’s facilities in northern Italy.
